We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Planner to join our team, based in the heart of Winnipeg's historic exchange district.

The Role: Community Planner
This is an exceptional opportunity for Community Planners who are driven to make a meaningful impact through community, regional, municipal, and environmental planning projects and who may have an interest and understanding of Indigenous cultures. Our ideal candidates are those who thrive on new challenges, excel in a collaborative environment, and are eager to contribute and expand their skills to support urban, rural and remote communities.

Your Impact:

  • Participate in innovative planning projects that include municipal and land use planning, community development, land management, and environmental stewardship.

  • Engage closely with Indigenous communities to support land protection and governance, land use planning, and implementation of Treaty, resource development and northern flood agreements.

  • Utilize your planning expertise to contribute to projects that make a real difference in the lives of the communities we serve.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • You hold a post-secondary degree in Planning, Natural Resource Mgmt., Landscape Architecture, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Sciences, Community Development, Geology, Geography or related field.

  • Your communication skills are strong, both in writing and verbally, facilitating effective report writing and project documentation under the guidance of our senior planning team.

  • A knack for research and analysis, and the ability to organize vast information efficiently.

  • An ability to operate in many environments, including negotiation tables, leadership meetings, and community workshops.

Highly Valued:

  • Familiarity and understanding of Indigenous cultures, communities, languages, and interests.

  • Background or interest in Indigenous land management, ecology, community-based monitoring, and regional planning.

  • Technical proficiency in GIS mapping, graphic design, or desktop publishing.

  • An understanding of physical geography, biophysical processes, and landforms.
