The Opportunity

Thomas Design Builders is a long-standing, family-owned construction company based in the McGillivray Business Park. We’re looking for an experienced Architectural Designer or Senior/Intermediate Architectural Technologist who enjoys seeing projects through from idea to completion and wants to be part of a grounded, steady, good-humoured team.

This position is open because one of our team members is away on maternity leave until next year. We’re open to a term placement or a permanent hire if we meet someone whose experience is a long-term fit.

If you enjoy hands-on design work, producing detailed construction drawing sets, coordinating with consultants, and helping move projects forward day-to-day, we’d like to meet you.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and develop architectural drawings from concept through permit and construction

• Create accurate working drawings in Revit and AutoCAD

• Complete building code reviews with support from the team

• Assist with proposals, design presentations, and pricing sets

• Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and internal project teams

• Review shop drawings and help maintain drawing accuracy throughout construction

• Visit job sites as needed to understand design intent, scope, and field conditions

• Contribute ideas, flag issues early, and help keep projects running smoothly

What You Bring

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a related design discipline

• Three or more years of experience in architectural or construction documentation

• Strong working knowledge of Revit

• Comfortable producing full drawing sets for commercial or light-industrial projects

• Ability to interpret drawings, apply building code requirements, and problem solve

• Friendly, reliable, and able to work both independently and with a small team

• Good communication skills and confidence explaining your work
